How To Use Your Crystals

Are you interested in working with the energy of crystals? They are said to have a wide range of healing properties. But how do you begin learning how to use them?

I recommend getting to know any new crystal on it’s own, before combining it with other crystals. There’s a few different ways to become acquainted:



Observe your crystal. Take in its color, pattern, shape, and structure. Take gentle, long, deep breaths. Hold your crystal in both hands, close your eyes, and relax. Imagine that you

are inside your stone, moving within its flow, wandering deep into the center of your crystal. Let go of worldly concerns. Explore for a while before gently coming out of this experience.


Place the crystal on its associated chakra or anywhere on your body needing assistance, and receive its healing and clearing energies. I do this for 15-30 minutes before bed. Before I drift off, I move the crystal to under my pillow or in the pillowcase. You can also go straight for under/in the pillow.


Go somewhere quiet where you will not be disturbed for at least 10 to 15 minutes. Take a few minutes to admire your stone, noticing every detail. Close your eyes and clasp your left hand around the stone. Focus on your breathing and do your best to clear your mind. Take a few long, deep breaths, until you feel more relaxed. This will change your brainwave pattern to theta waves, which are conducive to psychic abilities and feeling crystal energy, and helps you open up so that they can communicate with you.

While doing deep breathing, focus all of your energy on the stone. Concentrate all your senses in your hand, and especially the physical sensation of the crystal’s presence. Keep breathing deeply, and pay close attention to what you are feeling from the stone. Though sometimes it may take a few meditations, people often report feeling the stone’s energy pulsing.

Keep doing this, and you may soon experience other responses from the crystal. Sometimes it shows up as flashes of images, or you may hear the voice of the stone. You may get an answer to a pressing question in your life, or come to a realization about something important. You may feel joy, or experience an emotional release. Whatever happens, trust that it is the crystal communicating with you and helping you. Continued meditations will typically deepen the reactions.

When ready, allow yourself to slowly come back to physical reality. Put your crystal aside, and ground yourself by imagining roots coming from your feet and going down into the ground. Wiggle your toes, shake your hands, and just sit for a moment, reflecting on how you felt during the meditation.


Carry your crystal in your pocket on a daily basis. I recommend doing this only with harder crystals, and not with other objects like keys, to protect the crystal. You can also get a pouch to protect it.
